Tips and Advice...

...on Maintaining a Healthy Lawn

The following tips and advice can help ensure your lawn is thriving even when we're not treating it!

* Do not scalp your lawn! Mow it at proper mowing heights based on recommended mowing schedules throughout the year.
* During the Spring season, it is recommended to cut your lawn with a height of about 2.5 inches.
* During the hot summer months, it is recommended to mow your lawn at a height of about 3 - 3.5 inches.
* In the fall months, it is recommended to mow your lawn with a height of about 2.5 inches.
* On your last mowing of the year, it is recommended to cut your lawn at a height of about 2 inches.
* Ensure your mower blade is sharp. Blades should be sharpened after every 2 acres mowed for best results.
* DO NOT cut your lawn when it is wet! Doing so can damage the blades of the grass.
* DO NOT cut your lawn in the heat of the day or when it is extremely hot outside.
* During the growing season, for best results, your lawn should be watered once or twice per week either by sprinkler, by hand, or by mother nature. When water by sprinkler or by hand ensure that each area of the lawn is saturated with 1 inch of water (or approximately 1 hour).
* If you have any problems with your lawn, call our office. We will gladly check your lawn and advise you as to the problem and resolution. DO NOT wait until the problem gets to an advanced stage!
* If you have a new lawn - NO WEED CONTROL for the first year. Also, do not dig out weeds. For every weed dug out, 2 weeds may pop up in return. Fertilization during the first year is extremely important.
